Let’s start with raspberries. Raspberries contain awesome little plant chemicals called anthocyanins. Research from 2017 suggests that these plant chemicals may be able to suppress inflammation that can lead to heart disease. In addition, raspberries are a great source of fiber and potassium. Both of which can help manage blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and obesity.
Almonds and Cashews are next in line. These healthy little nuts are rich in fiber and heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, which means they may be able to help lower blood pressure and improve overall heart health.
Did we mention that heart Muesli contains a fair share of sunflower seeds? Sunflower seeds are high in polyunsaturated fats which, according to the American Heart Association, are quite good for the heart as well. Sunflower seeds may help reduce bad (LDL) cholesterol levels, reduce heart attack risk, reduce stroke risk, manage blood sugar, and lower blood pressure. They’re some of the healthiest seeds around!
What the deal with the chocolate? Is it really healthy?
All chocolate is made with a certain percentage of cacao. Dark chocolate usually contains at least 70% cacao. Milk chocolate, on the other hand, typically has a lot less. Cacao comes with many amazing health benefits, including benefits for the heart. Specifically, it can help improve blood flow and help manage blood pressure.
At mueslihaus, we thought about using dark chocolate for the additional health benefits. We even tried it in heart Muesli, but it was just too bitter. So, we stuck to the no milk vegan chocolate instead. You’re welcome. Enjoy!
